 Grieving
Back to Full Blog

Well Friday is here again, and again I am finding myself
not in the mood for much. It has been a really bad week,
I have not been myself. Damn just cant understand why
so much despair has fallen on me...have been loosing too
many people I love too soon and too closed together and is
taking its toll on me

I wish you all a Great Weekend!!!

A good friend of mine sent me this today, I hope you
all don't mind me sharing it with you...

"Don't grieve that your roses have thorns.
Rejoice instead that your thorns have roses!"

We should all live by this quotation. What it means
to me is that I can't change the reality that life is a
mixture of beauty, joy, danger and pain, but I can change
my perspective ... my attitude, and that one change can
transform everything!

The reality of our lives may result from many outside factors, none of which we can control. The only thing we can really control in this life is our own mental attitudes. We should try to remember that all we are dealing with is thoughts, and thoughts can be changed. We may not have control over our circumstances, but we do have control over our thoughts and we can choose how we will respond to the things that happen to us.

We all have unlimited choices about what we can think. The things we think become the truth for us. Our subconscious minds will accept whatever we choose to believe. There is no person, no place and no thing that has any power over us, for "we" are the only thinkers in our mind. Things seem to turn out best for those people who can make the best out of the way things turn out. It is not the situation ... it is our reactions to the situation.

I have learned that although pain is inevitable for all of us, we do have an option as to how we react to it. It's no fun to suffer ... in fact, it can be horrible! We are all going to have pain, but "misery is optional!" We all have choices. It is up to us to decide how we will react to the pain that inevitably comes to us all.

Having joy or misery all depends on how we look at or think about it. It is in how we choose to look at the circumstances. We can look for the flowers or just see the weeds. We can see the bright side or look for the clouds. How we look at life can either bring a sparkle of joy or a handful of gloom. We can be as happy as we decide to be.

Two people living in the same world, with the same set of circumstances, can experience life so differently just by the way they think. Each day can be an exciting, joyous, hopeful experience, or it can be a sorrowful, limiting, and painful one. What you see in your mind is what you get out of life.

And always KEEP IN MIND.....

Should you find it hard
To get to sleep tonight ...
Just remember the homeless family
Who has no bed to lie in.

Should you find yourself stuck in traffic,
Don't despair! ...
There are people in this world
For whom driving
Is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work ...
Think of the man who has no work.

Should you despair
Over a relationship gone bad ...
Think of the person
Who has never known
What it's like to love
And to be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing
Of another weekend ...
Think of the woman
In some third world country,
Working twelve hours a day,
Seven days a week,
For just $15.00 to feed her family.

Should your car break down,
Leaving you miles away
From assistance ...
Think of the paraplegic
Who would just love
To have the opportunity
To take that walk.

Should you notice
A new gray hair in the mirror ...
Think of the cancer patient
In chemo-therapy
Who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself
At a loss and pondering,
What is life all about
And what is my purpose? ...
Be thankful!
There are those who didn't live
Long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself
The victim of other people's
Bitterness, ignorance,
Smallness or insecurities ...
Remember that things could
Always be worse,
You could be one of them!!!

Should you feel depressed
Because of your weight ...
Remember,There is no cure for AIDS.

Remember that someone else today ...
Could be one of us tomorrow!

I want to thank my friend from the bottom of my heart
for her kind and wise words, and I promise to start the
healing process.

Hello Jackie,
Roses and the thorns, a point to ponder and I have. My youngest sister is a cancer survivor (for now). She never had an easy life even at a young age but she has been blessed at the same time. The most precious rose is protected by the thorns and we are left to admire the beauty. If that rose is to be yours you will endure the pain and love what life wants you to have.

I have been gone and I do not know your situation for this post but I hope and pray that you are okay and doing well. I do not want to share anymore today but I wish you the best of weekends.___Cuddle

Yes, Jacki...it is indeed all in ones perspective. I usually strive to find the silver lining and if I can't see one, I just figure 'hang in there, soon enuff the kaleidoscope will turn and it will all be different'.

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
I try to always remind myself that others have it worse...

Hi jackie--I didn't realize it was so long since I'd visited your blog. I've been very self-absorbed of late...I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles, and I hope things are getting better. In any case, you seem to have a wise philosophical attitude, and friends to remind you of it, which is a good part of the battle. Hang in there and thanks also for the beautiful pictures on your blog. That shot of the couple on the beach was gorgeous. I hope you have a good week.--Sir Cranky
